Background
A decade designing sets and costumes, now drawing houses.
Designing for stage and screen means solving the problems a house solves · how a space is entered, how it holds people, what it is made from and how it gets built · usually with a small budget and a fixed opening night.
That experience now goes into residential work. The Certificate IV in Residential Drafting at TAFE NSW brings it onto the statutory side, with drawings set out for your certifier or council.

Residential Certification
Certificate IV in Residential Drafting, TAFE NSW (2025 – 2026), with drawings set out to the National Construction Code and Australian Standards.

Drawings and reports for your Development Application lodged with local council, or the equivalent exempt or deemed-to-comply pathway where the works qualify · set out to state planning policy and your council’s development controls.
Building Approval Documentation
The certificate or permit your builder needs before work starts · Construction Certificate in NSW, Building Permit in WA · issued through a private certifier or your council and detailing National Construction Code compliance.
Tender Documentation
A complete drawing set for pricing, so builders are quoting on the same information.
Construction Contract Administration
Drawings and information maintained through construction, answering the builder as the work proceeds.

Fees are quoted per project once the brief is clear.
Garden Design
Native planting design for new builds and existing gardens.
A garden is specified the way a building is: what grows where, what it needs, and how it changes over the years. Every scheme is built from Australian natives chosen for the site itself, not a plant list applied to it.
Garden design can be added to a drafting project, or commissioned as a standalone brief for an existing garden.
Local Native Species
Plants endemic to the project’s own area · the species that belong in that soil and climate, and support what lives around them.
Australian Natives
Where the conditions call for it · Australian native species from elsewhere that suit the site’s aspect, rainfall and exposure.
Drawn with the House
Planting considered from sketch design, so the house and the garden are resolved together.
